Would adding some water jets to the bottom of my tank (to simulate their natural environment) add any benifit for these fish. The fish are doing fine, they just seem to breath hard and i was wondering if the addition of water movement aide them in their breathing?

Yes... add an airstone too. Steatocranus have a high oxygen need.

I bought a supposed pair from the LFS, turns out they are both male. Unfortunately shipments of these fish to Japan are sporadic and I'd like to get a true pair or several females.

Besides Rehoboth are there any reliable sellers that will ship internationally?

From the USA, I do not know of any... especially one that specializes in West African fish.
