Ive had the A.steindachneri pair since the Oct BCA auction..they were young fish and have been growing on and getting fatter in one of my fry tanks, i decided to set them up for breeding last month and after an initial failure they have today brought out a decent spawn of around 70 fry...They might be classed as a easy dwarf to breed but that didnt wipe the smile of my face...

Wonderful photos of one of my favo apisto-species. Thank´s for sharing those!
My experience from Steindachneri is that they are very sensitive to the water quality. What is your recipy for keeping them healthy? They really look to be in good shape! :)

I myself was delighted when my pair spawned late last year. Like your expereince the initial spawn was approx 70 fry. This pair bred in a 250 litre bare-bottom tank in which was housing approx 35 bristlenose of various sizes. They seem to have comondered most of the 8 ceramic caves and are looking lovely - essentially both parents were yellow-ish with a faint blue hue to be seen in some light. yeah, great fish.

Thanks for the comments guys.. They are a great Apisto to keep and im quite taken with them myself!!
The secret to keeping them healthy is really simple, good water, good water and good water..Throw in some live food and you have fish that will spawn with ease and that look fantastic!

The fish look good. Do you know the water parameters of your tank and does the pair have any tankmates? Does the male provide any parental care for the fry?
