I recently noticed this lump on the right side of my Apistogramma Agassizii female. Not showing any signs of discomfort, in fact I have never seen her so bright and vividly coloured and healthy. Anyone seen this before? Fed on variety of flake, freeze dried bloodworms, freeze dried tubifex and NLS Pellets.

Water params are:
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 5-10

Could be a lot of different possibilities: a trematode fluke like yellow grub (only if she's pond-raised or if you brought in snails that could have been exposed to poop from a fish-eating bird), or a benign or cancerous tumor, or some kind of bacterial, viral, or sporozoan cyst. Just keep watch on it; if it opens up into a sore, that's bad.

I noticed today there is what looks like the end of a small white thread emerging from the lump almost like a spot that needs squeezing if you would excuse the image that puts in your head it is the only way I can describe it! I was advised not to feed for a couple of days ?

Hi all,
or a benign or cancerous tumor
That was my thought as well, but it is a new
one for me as well.

Sounds like a parasite (something like Lernaea - Anchor worm?) but I've no real idea.

cheers Darrel

This is the clearest pic I managed to get - if you look closely you can see the white thread like tip I mentioned.
