EB Acara theory about hybrididzing with rams

So, I know this isn't the best forum to ask this, but I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people here, so I thought, why not ask here. I read on an article by Nathan Hill that some people seem to think that the EB Acara comes from crossbreeding the normal Blue Acara with Rams by artificial fertilizing: http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/features/articles/2017/5/24/electric-blue-fish-or-the-aquarium

Do you guys think it's true? I've never heard about it before and it seems kind of weird to me.

No... i don't know but I'd lean towards no.. same way ebr came about. Have you seen what they started with?? Basic acara seem a bit more "workable"

Extremely unlikely. Not only are they species that belong to 2 different genera, but 2 different clades (subfamilies) of cichlids - geophagines for Rams and cichlasomines for Electric Blue Acaras. The more distantly related that 2 species are, the less likely they can cross. It is much more likely to be a domestic color enhanced strain of the standard Blue Acara, similar to that seen in the Electric Blue Jack Dempsey.

EB Acara looks and acts just like a normal blue acara except for color. I dont see any ram features in it. However, "blue acara" is a complex of related species (pulcher, latifrons, sapayensis, etc) that might have been mixed to create the EB.

Visually only on the outside, yes, but they are very different internally, where it counts.
