Hey guys, I've been out of the game for 3 years or so, and looking to get back in to it. I am wondering if there has been any new taxonomy work on the Agassizii super complex? Cheers.

    ID confirmation P. t. "Dehane"

With all the photos I have posted of my P. t. "Dehane" I haven't had a comment from Ted that they aren't what they are supposed to be. So Ted, do they look right?

    Apistogramma baenschi

G'day guys, On Thursday I bought an Apistogramma Baenschi pair. On Monday evening they spawned. The female has dug out a cave under a mopani rootwood. In the photos below, you can see the pile of sand built up from her excavating. Unfortunately I can not get a good shot of the cave mouth due...

    A. cacatuoides Q

Hi guys, My LFS has some wild cacatuoides in at the momnent. They apparently were caught at a place called Guacamayo in Peru. Is it normal for cacatuoides to have blue lips? I have a photo of the largest male, but it doesn't really show the true colouration of his lips.

    Apistogramma baenschi

Hi guys, I bought an adult pair of Apistogramma baenschi today. I see a lot of females for sale locally, both wild caught and locally bred, but very few males. Has anyone bred them and managed to grow out a good mix of males and females? If so, under what conditions. Thanks

    Nannacara anomala help

Hi guys, Last Friday I bought a pair of Nannacara anomala. They were quite timmid over the weekend and I barely saw the female at all. Occassionally the male would chase her out of hiding, but for the most part there was little aggression beween the pair. On Monday I woke up to find the...

    Something a little different

One of my pairs of P. taeniatus dehane have removed thier wigglers from the spawning cave to a little cave dug out under the spunge filter. I was expecting to see free swimming fry yesterday or today, but these fry are a little smaller than new free swimming fry. Normally with both pairs...

    Agassizii ID

I bought a pair of Agassizii three months ago. They were sold as Rio Tefe Red Europe Bred. I have tried to take some good photos of the pair, but they are extremely camera shy, and it is hard to take a decent photograph of either of them. These are the best I have been able to take of the...

G'day all, I have a some questions about pelvicachromis taeniatus dehane. I have two pairs in seperate tanks, and both currently have four/five week old fry. I noticed yesterday that the female of the dominant pair had started excavatining out under the piece of driftwood she has previously...

    Threads back to front.

I don't know if any one else experiences this, but every time I open a thread, the latest post is at the top of the page and the original post is the last in the thread. Which means I feel like I am reading the thread backwards. Does anyone know if there is a way for me to change this...

I bought these fish as Nannacara anomala. I posted these photos on another forum, and one member said he believes they are N. aureocephalus instead. The two photos were taken at the LFS.

    Apistogramma "Galaxy"

Our LFS has some Apistogramma "Galaxy" currently for sale. They are wild caught from Peru. We have done some research on them and we have a fair idea of what they might actually be, but would like some input from the experts. The male is approximately 4cm TL and the female is approximately...

Hey guys, I've been looking at photos of Apistogramma sp. "Masken" as I will be buying a pair very shortly. The pair have spawned in the LFS tank, which kind of clinched it for me. Here are some photos. Just wondering which fish they are.

    Help - tumor like nodules

Hey guys, A couple of weeks ago I bought a young trio of agassizii "Alenquer". Late last week the the male spawned with both females in a period of 3 days. Needless to say, the tank only being 2x1 he copped it a bit from both females. So I moved him to a spare tank on Monday. He had a...

    A. agassizii "fire tail".

I mentioned some time ago about a LFS here selling some agassizii labled as "fire tail". I have had a pair in a tank for a couple of weeks now. In the tank next to them, are a pair of agassizii bought as "flamenco". To my untrained eye they are near identical fish. Unfortunately I have no...

Hey guys, I am wondering if anyone who has been collecting in Peru or recieve shipments from Peru has heard of Apistogramma agassizii "fire tail", and if they know the possible collection point, location variant or sub-species? Our LFS that specialises in dwarf cichlids often stocks wild...
