Something a little different

One of my pairs of P. taeniatus dehane have removed thier wigglers from the spawning cave to a little cave dug out under the spunge filter. I was expecting to see free swimming fry yesterday or today, but these fry are a little smaller than new free swimming fry.

Normally with both pairs, the female looks after the eggs and wigglers under the driftwood cave untill the fry are free swimming, and then she'll emerge with the entire spawn and both parents will then take care of the fry.

Just something a little different to what I am used to.

I have seen the species move wigglers, but not often.

Well the fry have been moved back to the spawning cave. I was definately expecting to see free swimming fry by today, but mum is still holed up under the driftwood and there are no fry to be seen.

I should have mentioned that mum appeared with free swimming fry on Thursday the 12th. There are about 30 fry and they appeared to be a little smaller than what I was expecting. Fry are doing well, happily looking for food all day long, and go nuts when fed live bbs twice a day.
