Tanieatus problem

Hi guys,

I have a problem to wich I can't find any solution, so maybe you guys could help me.

I have a pair of P. Tanieatus "Wouri" in a temporary 10 gallons tank. The female was gorgeous and was doing fine until I added the male, wich a friend of mine was hosting in his tank. Both fish were doing very fine, eating like pigs and showing great colors while separated, but now they just rest on the ground all day long, not eating anything at all. I didnt witness any agressions between them.

I tried increasing water movement, decreasing it, softer water, almond leaves, all theses tries failed.

Anyone got an idea of what's going on and what I could do ?

Thanks
Phil

Wouri is a bit more sensative to water conditions than other taeniatus. Mine only seem to do really well when they get a combination of lots of water changes with RO and lots of food rich in vegatable matter.

I would try doing water changes of 25% daily with RO and see if they come out of it.

Pelvicachromis taeniatus "Wouri"

Hello Xanathos,

In addition to Ted's advice, do you think your fish might to better in a larger tank? Some have great success keeping Pelvicachromis pairs in 10-gallon tanks; I, however, am not one of those people.

Good luck!

I agree with you on this. As I said, it was going to be temporary. I moved them in good doing community tank, just too see if they will do better.

I'm crossing my fingers :(

I have heard other people having trouble with kribs of all types turning dull and not doing anything when things are a little cramped - 38 liter tank is a little small - a 76 liter - 20 US gal would be better
