Hi All. I thought that I was haveing some real good luck X-mas and new years. I had A. cruzi,agassizii,rotpunkt(1&2 Aql S.A.C.II pgs 63thru66),cacatuoides,bitaeniata,and panduro. Also Nannacara anomala spawning. Stats Cruzii 7 fry 7 wks old, agassizii 6 fry 4 wks old, rotpunkt spawn failed 3 dif prs, cacatuoides spawn failed, bitaeniata(purutu) spawn failed, panduro spawn failed, N. anomala 35+ fry 2wks old. Some of my bad luck was an infestation of snails and hydras. The hydras I am irradicating per suggestions from this board found in past posts. As for the snails two kinds Rams horns and pond I need help what kills them tryied loaches and fry were not safe. I will eventually get spawns to be more successful I am learning.
Have you tried Anomalochromis thomasi aka the African Butterfly Cichlid?, clean up my snail issues in no time (not that I had much of a problem to begin with I purchased it as a target fish for a couple of rams) may not any better as far a loaches go in terms of fry survival but maybe a bit easier for the parents to defend against than a lumbering loach (even small clownies look lumbering to me)
