Recommendation for Apistogramma sp. with Extravagant Finnage

Hello,

I am an apistoholic, especially those with high/long/elongated flowing finnage. Can someone please recommend a species that can develop extremely long dorsal/caudal/anal fins, relative to its body size?

I'd really appreciate your input. Thank you.

Most of the aggazzisi types will do that with specimens of bitaeniata getting some ridiculously long fins in very soft water.

And trifasciata in very soft waters! There's also sp. 'Breitbinden' and sp. 'Inka', which develop very tall dorsal fins.

my vote goes to Breitbinden/Broadbanded Cichlid.. there was a posting of wild fish pictures not too long ago... absolutely the most stunning dwarf I've seen... ever! Mine aren't as colorful but I like them. check it out.

I also think you'd like Apistogramma bitaeniata. They are absolutely gorgeous fish and can develop extravagant fins. I'm thinking of getting a pair myself.

Long-finned Apistogramma

Hello Pteroaltum,

Tula already mentioned Apistogramma trifasciata. I understand that this species develops outstanding fin extentions when raised in soft water. On the other side of the Atlantic, Pelmatochromis nigrofasciatus males sport some pretty impressive finnage for a western African cichlid.

Least we not forget borellii and pertensis for nice high dorsal fins. And you mentioned only 3 fins. What about the ventral. A. sp. "Miua" has the longest ventrals I have seen (All the way to the caudal):
