fungused fry

I artificially hatched some A. barlowi. Two days after hatching the wrigglers died and fungused. I used acriflavin during the incubation and the water was still yellow when I lost the fry. Any advise?

evening, more info needed. did you use an aerator etc, what were the water parameters, did you use original water from main tank etc. What did you feed them etc ? Sorry but this does help . cheers jk

I did aerate the hatching container. Used the water from the original aquarium. The pH is 6.7 and hardness 50 tds. I did not feed the fry since they still had their yolk sacs and were not yet free swimming.

Sorry to hear this. It seems that the acriflavine wasn't very effective against the fungus. My guess is that the wigglers died the same way eggs do when fungused. One egg/larvae dies. Fungus attacks dead egg/larvae. Neighboring eggs/larvae in contact with fungused one attacked by fungus. Females would remove dead eggs/larvae before this occurs.

hi it is hard to say what the cause was. Did you sterilise the container before hand etc ? It otherwise seems that you did everything correct. Do not give up and maybe next time remove the fry only after 5-7 days when they are free swimming ? cheers jk
