Curvicep and Unknown?

Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but people here seem to know their dwarf cichlids. :) I have recently got back into cichlid's and started a 75 gallon SA planted tank. I went to lfs and purchased 4 curviceps and have enjoyed them lately despite their shyness. As they have started showing themselves more often I am realizing, in my limited knowledge, that I believe I have a male and female curvicep and 2 unknowns that do not match the body shape and colorations of what I have photo-macthed to be curviceps. I will post pictures and any help regarding identification would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

So I apologize to anyone who may already know this, but after getting creative in my searching what are the odds I have a juvenile port acara? It seems to be a match of #2 based on a crude photo I found on an old website. Not sure if it still matches #1? huh.

My guess would be Aquedens tetramerus. It's a somewhat common by catch with dwarf cichlids.

And welcome to the forum Mr. Darwin...any upcoming trips on the Beagle?

Haha, nope no trips for me coming up. So my LFS insist that beyond a doubt that these are a golden strain of curvicep. Is that possible. All my searching online found nothing by that name that looked remotely similar. If someone agrees could you point me to some literature on these fish. If not I would settle for some affirmation :).

The first two fish are certainly not Laetacara -- they are Aequidens or Cichlasoma (something in tetramerus or port groups).
Your first curviceps is a male as you know. The second could be either sex, but i'm guessing a young male.

I have to agree with the others. Your "golden strain of curvicep" is not a Laetacara species. It is a Cichlasoma species (sensu Kullander 1983). Note the location of the dark spot, high on the caudal peduncle. This feature is not seen on Laetacara species, but it is a feature seen on Cichlasoma species. I would expect these fish to grow at least to 6-8"/15-20 cm long.
