Er ... where did you collect the steindachneri-group fish? It doesn't look like A. hippolytae to me. The suborbital (cheek) stripe is different and the caudal fin appears to be squared-off or even double tipped.

Mike Wise, It is the fish from Itapiranga, what species does it look like?
Slimbolen, Visit my other thread http://www.apistogramma.com/forum/showthread.php?11462-Apisto-collecting-in-Itapeaçu for the full thread and more photos. the newest are the steindachneri group fish and agassizi the salpinction was caught about a month and a half ago.
Thank you animalmgc for the comment!
You are welcom CJ
Melanochromis, The colors will come back as it grows, the flash washed the salpinction out a bit but as it grows it will only get better.

Based on the photos that I've seen so far, I can't say for sure, but the finnage & cheekstripe are more like A. steindachneri; the flank patch is more like A. rupununi. The Japanese reportedly imported a fish similar to A. steindachneri (possibly something like A. sp. Rupununi-Savanne) from near Manaus about 10 years ago.

Hudson, I know of no apistos east of the Rio Parnaiba drainage (A. piauiensis). The Serra de Ibiapaba (highland) east of the Parnaiba seems to have been a barrier to more eastward migration of species, at least apistos. That doesn't mean that there aren't apisos around Fortaleza, just unlikely. If you find something, let us know!
