yo ! Nannacara adoketa

These guys are MEAN! you can almost tell by the look of the fish that they are out to raise havocI keep 4 in a big tank (540 liters), and slowly but surely the other fishes in the tank disappear. My adoketas are now about half-grown, and they haven't paired up yet. But you can tell they are constantly on the prowl, swimming around and commanding their surroundings. I had a bunch of the largest Amano shrimps I've ever seen in there, some even bigger than the adoketas. Needless to say, they were all gone within weeks (thought they might, but still...). Micropoecilia minima - all gone. Nannostomus mortenthaleri - 1 of 10 left. A group of Axelrodia riesei is still doing fine, they seem to be too fast. Some Apistogramma gephyra are still holding their own too, but how long will that last I wonder...But the adokets are amazing, beautiful and very interesting cichlids nonetheless, so I will let them have this tank as their 'playground', and simply avoid putting anything in there that is in immediate danger. No doubt, these cichlids deserve to be named after Ivan The Terrible. Good thing they don't grow two or three times as big as they do!
