Humm....what else is there in the tank? Could she have happened upon some abandoned eggs and took them over?

That is very intersting...keep us posted and try to figure out what they are.

There are some A. tucurui (all males), one A. cacatuoides (male), and four A. gibbiceps (one breeding pair and what I assume are two subdominant males). I didn't think any of them were close enough to cross, but nature continues to suprise, it would appear.

re to post

There are like three morphs of rotpunkt One is very dificult to distinguish males and females apart they look almost alike. If you have more than one in there it is possible you have a pr the males of red point I look very simular to the females I found out the hard way. When they spawned

Nope, there is only the one Rotpunkt and that is the female, and as I stated before some A. gibbiceps, one A. cacatuoides, and a few A. tucurui. I'm leaning towards the male cacatuoides being the father because those two species are closer to each other than the gibbiceps and tucurui are.

Hi,

That's interesting.

maybe you can find out the male by behaviour. The female should behave different to the "father" than to all other males.

I think that the rotpunkt is actually closer related to A. tucurui. This should also be the species that over all resembles your rotpunkt the most.

But you never know...

All the best,
Lars

I've been watching them for several hours a day lately and it seems that the female Rotpunkt is less aggressive towards the cacatuoides than the tucurui.
