peaceful borellii tankmates

I have this beautiful very peaceful male with two females and was wondering if I could find another apisto with somewhat the same temperament. I have a planted 30 long tank. I was thinking about some wild cacatuiodes that the lfs has.

A. cacatuoides is a larger fish than A. borellii, but probably is OK if in a properly aquascaped tank. A. commbrae and A. trifasciata are found in the same place as A. borellii. A. trifasciata is a bit 'rowdy' at times, but should work OK in a heavily planted 30L. A. commbrae should be no real problem at all.

I actually had some A. trifasciata a while back and they were great little guys. I had two males and four females, didnt see much aggression. I did have a bad problem that wipe out all but one female and they were expensive. I could not find any wrong with them from just looking perfect, all being fed the same, and even checked the water. I am just looking for another apisto with somewhat the same temperament with color to match if possible.

You could always just let the A. borelli have the tank to themselves and allow them to raise some spawns. I have bred a trio of A. borelli in a tank only 4-1/2 gal and each female raised their own brood with the male overseeing the whole tank. Your tank is more adequate and would be roomy enough for the fry to get some size to them. Once you have a spawn of even a common species of A. borelli it is usually easy to find people who are interested in trading the species they are raising for some of yours. I find that to be a fun way to get new species for only the cost of postage.
I am trying to get one last spawn from some aging A. trifasciata because they are sometimes difficult to find and rather expensive for such an easy to breed species but I may have waited too long to breed them again. I found they made great trading material last summer when I had a lot of them.
