I had an interesting discovery with my P.rolofi. They are very shy and rarely stay out of shelter and never come out and swim around when I'm in the room. The tank is small and has little cover so it's not of any great surprise about their habits.
What was a surprise was their choice of spawning site. It couldn't have been any more out in the open and closer to the surface and lid.

A shot of the tank, can yousee the spawn site?

Are rolofi normaly open spawners or do they usually lay in caves?

That is very strange. I have spawned this species several times and have not observed anything other than cave spawning.

Very nice looking female Todd. What does the male look like?

I think you'll need to put up photos of your entire collection soon. It must be rather extensive by now. It would be good to know what you're not breeding, actually.

The odd spawning site wasn't just for show. Here is a couple of pics of the proud parents and fry.

.

Briz,
I have only 1 pair of each species and we know how that can change in an instant. It would be good to see other people breeding some of these fish. If you look at Fishchicks last couple of sales lists, that's close to what I have. A few tanks in my room have angels and discus that I didn't intend breeding but they had other ideas in the holding tanks, so now their in the breeding room.
