Rio Negro, hehhe (kidding) :)

Hmm, i know that traders in Germany, UK, Denmark, Taiwan and Hong Kong have it... Brasil Aquarium Ltd in Taiwan has a batch of 2-3cm long adoketa now.

Sadly so, this fish is on the "hard to find list" still here in the United States. I'm sure there are a few people who might know of where to find or who has them, and I hope you find these jems. If you do, please let me know as I've been wanting them for quite some time also. john

Yes, I have a pair courtesy of Alf Stalsberg (Larvik, Norway) who had a tank full of F1 fish last year. If I ever get a chance to do more than feed & change water for them, I will try to get them breeding. This is a highly aggressive dwarf, so you need a well bonded pair to get the to live together, not to mention to breed.

Mike, your talks to our fish club(in Utah) got me into all these dwarfs so it is your fault I want this fish. Let me know for sure if you get them breeding.
blueblue you seem well conected. I know a guy with a licence to import fish. Do you have any idea what it would take to get fish here, and are any of the people you mentioned selling? If I thought seriously about that I would have to find some other fish to ship with them because I imagine shipping charges would be high.
Am I crazy, or could I get a box of cool fish without having to sell my house?

Hi ihavefishwantmore: As a crazy apisto collector and breeder, i am always interested in getting interesting apisto species. So, from time to time, i talk to and learn from the traders and vendors regarding the apisto markets around the world (in Hong Kong, the vendors import fish from Taiwan, South America, Germany, Belgium, Holland, UK, Canada, and other countries). However, as i am just a hobbyist, i do not export fish...you are right that shipping is expensive and it makes sense to aggregate demand across hobbyists or via stores to get in a full box of apistos... :)

Excactly HOW aggressive are N.adoketa? Is the aggression mainly directed towards other adoketas, or will they bother other, similar-sized Cichlids as well? I'm sure they are at their "worst" during breeding, obviously, but how do they behave normally? I'm thinking of keeping this species in a large tank (220x75x55 cm) together with other Cichlids (possibly Biotodoma wavrini and Tahuantinsuyoa macantzatza, or something similar), but I won't select typically aggressive species. Is this a good or a bad idea?

I don't know excactly how many specimens I will be getting, but as they are rare and expensive, it will naturally not be that many. Still, how many would be the maximum number in such a tank, if pairs form and take territories?
