i am in the early phases for setting up a 65 gallon, when its finished I plan on keeping the following: 2 groups for tetra species [thinking Black Phantoms and Blood fin] a shoal of sterba cory, small group of angel fish, and a trio of nannacara anomala, MY question is i have a couple of Bolivian Rams in another tank that i am considering moving would they be ok with above group or will this cause problems. The 65 is planted but its still growing in and filling out .

Sounds like trouble to me. Too many cichlids that will want to breed and attack anything entering their territory. Everyone here knows my mantra: A community tank is not a breeding tank.e Also note that breeding cichlids and corys is not a good idea for the corys.

If the aquarium is tall enough you might get away with angels and one bottom dwarf cichild. However none of the dwarf cichild are going to appreciate cory in their territory so drop the cory. trio historically means m/f/f but nannacara dont' really get along in a group - i would limit it to one male and one female if you go with them. Bolivian rams probably won't work with the nannacara - the larger tetra will go after frys if the dwarf cichild have frys which will stress the female who is guarding her brood. ember tetra would work with the dwarf cichild but the angelfishes will eat them.

this wasn't intended as a breeding tank or anything just so every one understands, I guess I kinda misled some the nannaacra are all females as I haven't been able to secure a male yet, the Bolivians are left overs from a group with has paired up and am looking for options for a new tank for them. they aren't getting abused where they are but the breeders do seem to get annoyed with them pretty often. The nannacaras are currently living together in a 20 long and while they give chase on occasion never had any injuries. I have embers in with the breeding Bolivians and am not wanting anything that small in this set up. Also the angels aren't purchased yet and will be young fish if they pair then I will worry about a proper breeding set up.

Putting in three female nannacara in a large tank as a place to hold them is safe enough but getting them back out if you intend to get a male will be another story ;)

Putting bolvian ram with 3 female nannacara is safe enough.

Believe it or not the nannacaras are hard to keep out of the net. When I moved the Black Phantoms from the 20 they shared I was having a hard time catching the tetras but the nannas just kept swimming right in there .

Well.... my female could take some lessons from yours as she led me on a merry little chase.... round and round and round we go.... only problem is when the music stopped she didn't sit down.

Thanks, now the Benny Hill Theme is playing in my head. :D

But on topic - dwarf cichlids do not work like Malawi cichlids. You can put several species of Malawis together and if you've done it right, it will work out. That's because they only need rocks as territory markers and females live in schools in the open water. The tank has to be big enough though.
Dwarf cichlids on the other hand need a very well structured tank with lots of different materials and fixed sight breakers.
