I just added three piece of large size manzanita drift wood over a week now. I been doing a 6 gallon water change every day since tuesday because the water is too dark brown. The tannins are gone pretty much gone now but the water is still so yellow. I am wondering how long it takes to finish releasing all the tannins?

Could be weeks, months, or a year. It varies with each piece of wood. Tannins and related organic compunds from wood and leaves are beneficial, especially in soft water. When it stops releasing visible amounts of tannins, you should probably add more if you're keeping soft-water species. If you really don't like the yellow-brown color, consider keeping species that prefer harder water.
