Hi guys, i would like to wish everyone a happy new year..

This year has seen me make many new friends in the hobby both online and personally, its been a pleasure to deal with so many dedicated hobbiests and ive enjoyed every minute of it...
Of course i still continue to learn from you all and hope next year is no different, if i can pass on a little of my knowledge then i will be very proud to be able to help someone else enjoy the small fishes that we all hold close to our hearts..
So to all new friends and especially to my old friends i send a new years message...

Happy new year.

Enjoy your night, all the best from Ste Chester..

Happy New Year!!!!

Thank you everyone for a great year on Apistogramma.com. This forum continues to be a unique international community of hobbyists, and all of the good things about this site are direct results of the members. All I do is try to keep it running.

I do not anticipate any major changes this year, though I would like to see site use go up. I purge membership once every six months (18 months without signing in and zero posts), which is what keeps the membership below 2000. When I bought the forum there were 3000+ members, but the vast majority of them had stopped coming in. Any forum gets many more registrants than it has users, but having a larger group of participating members is a benefit to the group, so the trick is to attract forum users and to keep users active. If you have an idea, start a thread (but we are not going to start the whole species profiles thing again...).

So... to try to encourage usage growth I am going to start promoting the forum more in other online places and through sponsoring dwarf cichlid events and shows (like sponsoring the dwarf cichlid classes at the ACA convention). I am hoping that I can afford this and the cost of hosting the site through our sponsors. Everyone can help by promoting the forum in other places on the web.

Thank you again and Happy New Year!

I was thinking the same thing with the sponsoring the classes at the ACA convention with apistogramma.com doing class 2-Dwarf South American and the WACMP doing class 7-West African and class 10-Tilapia, Chromidotilapia, Sarotherodon, Hemichromis. I am assuming that the classes will be the same as last year. If I remember correctly it is $50 per class? At a minimum I will pay for one class and we should be able to raise the rest. People on the forum could make small donations through paypal or if anyone wants to donate fish for fund raiser auctions on aquabid. If we fall short I will make it up. What do think?
