After SEVERAL attempts I finally got free swimmers outta my elizas. One female has spawned 7 times and the other 4 times. They finally decided not to eat the eggs or the fry.

Both females spawned this time, 1 day apart. The first set is free swimming today so hopefully the second should be tomorrow. I peaked into the cave today and there are a lot of wigglers so we will see!

This is the second time they spawned at the same time. I have been playing with lots of things to get them to keep the eggs. The big changes this time were;
1. Lots more ground cover (oak leaves)
2. minimal disturbances (water changes nice and slow, no one in the room for a week)
3. raising the water temp right after the eggs were laid (from 79 to 82 degrees)

I tried each of the above by themselves with no luck, I guess the combination of the 3 and the experience that the females gained did it.
