female on;ly spawning

anyone experienced anything like this
my female altispinos has spent the past 4 days spawning and then guarding her egg's all by herself , not trying to breed as out of space
she wont allow the male near her or the spawn site at all

obviously eggs will be unfertile

any thoughts on why she may have done this?
doesn't like mate?
poor water conditions?

An unsuitable mate or simply an overprotective nature can be to blame. Don't worry I have seen the ladies get it right round two.

Absolutely, it has taken me over 6 mths to find males
stupidly the first time they spawned was in a tank full of juvenile cories before i had room to settle them
i tried removing the rock they spawned on and the fish to a rather small 10 inch tank and they just ate the egg's , stress i guess

Since then they just fight

Would it be advisable to give them something to fight against ?
