The following apistos (this and the next threads) are regarded
as different species in Hong Kong and are given
all kinds of different names. I would like to
know more about their true identity by seeking their
most up-to-date english names. May friends in
this forum please give me the most appropriate english
names for them?

Plus, what are the latest findings for the relationship among them?

Thanks much.

Only 2c came through. To me it looks like a Rotkeil/Red-wedge color morph of A. uaupesi, although the red in the tail is rather weak. It would help to see the fish in other moods. There are several forms/populations/species related to A. uaupesi. Koslowski (2002) goes into some detail about the various forms.

Thanks Mike.

So bad that i don't have Koslowski (2002) [is it in german?] and so i have little info regarding the detailed differences and relationships among all these related species.

Well, as a remark, 4 is actually an iniridae with special red markings on the face.
