Hi, any advice on which would be easy to breed apistogramma? I already have A.cockatoo breed in 3 days of introduce and the fry are 2 1\2 week old, got some spare 70l tanks thought could try something else on the go.
A. cacatuiodes are a great first Apisto and pretty easy to bred if you give them a little space.
It may be easier to figure out what Apistos you can get and narrow down the list for the easier to keep and breed instaed of assembling a list and trying to track down the fish.
That said, Apisto. borellii is a smaller species that is easy to keep and breed...but not always easy to find.
Is it true that Apisto caca do have sneaker male... Wats the best way to spike them into breeding... Had keep caca for many times but they jus dun breed...

I have one that I always thought was a female. This one had nice yellow body just like any good female but it never bred. Then, after about half a year that I treated it as a female, all the sudden the filaments of the various fins become a little bit longer and I started to suspect it was a sneaker. So, I put it in a separate tank of its own. The yellow color on the body began to fade, fins grew much much longer, and it turned into a very beautiful male.
I think if you suspect any fish to be a sneaker male, just separate it from the others. This will allow it to develop the male features more prominently if it is indeed a sneaker.
