The more I study up on this species and see pictures of the different wild types, the more charmed I am with them and the more I want to own every species of them known to reside here in the U.S. I have not developed much of an attraction to any other Westie. Now that this thought has been in my head for a couple of weeks, I will probably spend the rest of my life accomplishing this. Seriously.

How hard hard would this be to accomplish, to have a somewhat complete collection of all P. t. wildtypes? I know that the list changes from day to day. Too bad there isn't some sort of fish species breeder registry like there is for dog breeders.

At one time I had several forms of the taeniatus. Dehane, Mahone, Nyete, and Lokjundi are in my current collection. I've also had Lobe Red, Moliwe, Nigerian Green, Nigerian Red, and Kienke at one time or another. There are also Makoure, Nigerian Yellow, Kienke Gold (new to me), Wouri, Banderwouri, and Lobe Yellow. There might be a couple more but their origin is still in question the last I heard (Like my Mahone and Calabar).

Good luck with the collection. Let us know how it turns out.

They are easy to get hooked on. Very pretty fish. I have had most, but only have 3 species now - Makoure, Lobe, Wouri. Between Ken and I we have a fair share of them. They can be a little frustrating to breed sometimes, but they sure are worth the effort.
