Hi all, I'm new here. I have Blue Rams, Bolivian Rams, Kribs, Borillis, Cacatuoides and now Caetei "Red Cheeks". I just got the Caetei "Red Cheeks" at the NEC Convention auction a few weeks back and they are doing great. I want to move them to a different tank but I'm having alot of trouble finding info on them. No one seems to have a good profile for them.

Maybe someone here can advice me on moving them. They are presently in a 20 gallon long with a few endlers and a female Betta. I want to move them to either my 180 gallon tank or my 300 gallon tank.
In the 180: pH 6.6, temp 75
It's a peaceful tank but I don't know if the temp is okay for them.
Tankmates include:
Bolivian Rams
Australian Rainbows
Redline Torpedo Barbs (Denisons)
Giant Danios
Corys
Weather Loaches
Kabotia Botias
Congo Tetras
Rosy Barbs

My 300 gallon tank is heavily planted with CO2
Much Spawing going on
pH 6.4, temp 80
Tankmates include
Pearl Gouramis
Blue Rams
Apisto Cacatuoides
Apisto Borelli
Bolivian Rams
Cardinal Tetras
Lemon Tetras
Skirt Tetras
Cherry Barbs
Bristlenose
Ottos
Corys
Kabotia Botias
Endlers

I would really like to put them on the 180 but I'm concerned about the temp. I really can't raise it because of the Weather Loaches.

Suggestions are welcome

Thank you, Michael

I assume that the fish that you have is A. cf. caetei Rotwangen/Red-cheeks. Most old information (before 1995) for "A. caetei" is actually about this species. This species is very tolerant to varying water conditions. In the wild it comes from the mouth of the Amazon where the water is close to neutral and moderately hard. At 75ºF you will probably get more males than females. This is the oposite of most apisto species, but occurs for caetei-like species.

Yes, the pair are cf. Caetei "Red Cheeks". I decided to put them into the 300. The Cockatoos found them interesting, the ones not gaurding fry. They got followed around for a while but all seems fine. I don't know if the Borelli's came acrossed them. I have 3 females and they hang out in the heaviest planted area. I lost the male a year ago and have not been able to get a male since. Still looking, I find the Borellis to be quite beautiful fish.

This is a pic of my 300.

I'm trying to get pics but the tank is so large and heavily planted that is has been hard to get good pics. I will get some and post them soon.

Thank you

Your 300 gal is an Apisto paradise! No wonder photos of individual fish would be hard to take.
Not having a Male borelli to show off to those females is a shame. Borellis in a setup like yours can give most any Apisto a run for it's money when it comes to colorful shine.
I am trying to get my two groups to kick in but for some reason they're deciding to become stingy. They spawned all winter in a planted Heckel Discus tank which had some green dwarf pikes that would eat all their fry. I have been keeping them going through 3 generations from a wild pair. Hoping I haven't waited to long to get F4 replacements.

Thank you for the replies. I actually set up this tank because of my love of dwarf Cichlids and I thought it would be more natural to view them and watch their habits in a large tank with many other fish.

I was just on aquabid looking at the Apisto's selection and ApistoDave has a pair of Borelli's. I am considering bidding on them. Just need to remember my password??? :)

Hey spyder,
Hope you got your A. borelli. Mine have spawned so the next generation is ensured. I have a couple of new batches finally.

No, I still have not. I wish I lived closer to you. My LFS is trying to get me some but having trouble. I still can't remember my aquabid password. I keep sending them a password request and they don't respond?????
