If you had to shoose between Cichlid Atlas 1 and 2, which would it be?

Can I just the second without reading the first or is it like watching a movie sequel without watching part 1?

Even with its age as some mis-identified species, Cichlid Atlas 1 is a much superior book. Obviously I'm not biased, since I helped Dr. Römer translate parts of Cichlid Atlas 2 into English. CA 1 has most of the species commonly available in the hobby; has excellent chapters on breeding, sex ratios, & biotopes in the wild.

The English edition of CA2 was poorly edited; not proofread by a native English speaker (seemingly); has groupings that in my opinion do not work because of inadequate sampling points; & most of the "newly named" species are actually undescribed species discussed under other names in other books and articles.

Definitely buy CA 1. CA 2 ... well that's your choice.
