A. borellii is another good starter species. They don't get very large so they can be kept in a smaller tank if need be. But in a larger tank they are very easy to keep and often breed.

Both of the above, plus A. cf. alacrina (Rotpunkt). For an experienced aquarium hobbyist there are many whitewater species that would work quite well, too.

... and A. macmasteri, easy to breed and readily available (although it's usually sold under the INCORRECT name "viejita").
Another one that's commonly available in fish shops is the "Steel-blue Apisto" (probably a domestic form or hybrid of A. caetei) BUT your chances of finding a female are about .01%, so I would avoid that one unless you see a bright yellow sure-fire female in the store.
