Hi,

Got a trio of ags, 1 male to 2 females. Females now have their caves sorted out and are often a bright yellow colouration. Occasionally the black band which travels from head to tail diminishes to a small black dot in the middle of the body on the females.

The male seems to be displaying i.e. when around one of the females, it extends it's full finnage. Female also seems to do a semi rolling motion alongside the male.

I've never bred any fish before & am hoping these will be my 1st :) Do things 'seem' normal? I know no two ags perform in the same way & am not sure how I can tell if eggs have been laid or not as I cannot see into the caves (cocunut shells).

Params are:

ph : 5.5
dkh : 1.6
temp : 80
nitrite/amm : zero obviously :)
nitrate : 5ppm

Cheers

Si

Si,

Sounds like breeding behavior to me. I would say that they are in the process of courting, but it is also possible that she has layed already. However, usually when a female has already spawned she spends less time "rolling" and more time threatening and chasing, unless the male is extremely forward with her. Shouldn't be long.

Let us know what happens and good luck!

corys might look cute but they are in fact little armoured  's
