A. borelli & D. filamentosus Compatability?

Has anyone here kept A. borelli & D. filamentosus together, or do you have any ideas as to how this combination might work?
They would have to be kept in a 10 gallon.
Or how would M. ramirezi & D. filamentosus work?
Also what is everyones opinion on the general temperament of these species? Has anyone had any bad experiences with them?

Thanks!

I have kept A. Borelli for a couple of years, I have 2 trios (1 male to 2 Females). They are in separate 20 gallon tanks. Both males seem to be fairly aggressive.
One lives in (relative) peace with a pair of rams (they have split the tank in half and as long as they stay at their allocated end all remains calm!).
This male does enjoy terrorising the small shoal of tetras in the tank though.

The other male, I can only describe as a psycho! anything that moves in the tank, other than his harem of 2, is attacked (including any stray fingers). He seems completely fearless.
In my fish room he is kept in a tank next to my Pacu who is now approaching 18", one day last year the backing I use around the tank slipped off giving the little borelli a perfect view of the "monster" in the next tank. He immediately went on the attack! Must have had one hell of a headache by the end of it. He is one mean little fish.

So if my experience is anything to go on maybe borellis are not the best tank mates.

Good Luck
Mark

:D In my experience, the Dicrosus gaenerally like softer, more acidic conditions than A. borelli.

Dear Reine,

Ted is right. D. filamentosa prefers softer, more acidic water than A. borellii. M. ramirezi and D. filamentosa would probably make for a much better combination, but not in a 10-gallon tank. It's simply too small to house two species of dwarf cichlids together. It might be a better idea to choose a pair of one species and add some small tetras to the mix.

Whatever you decide, good luck! You're considering some incredibly beautiful fish here.

All the best,

Randall Kohn
