male of female d39 ?

I'm leaning towards this being a female from the first two pictures but then i look at the third and i blink:

It has a soft pattern on the tail and it lacks the vertical bars the obvious male has (my male has not developed red tail like some pictures i've seen).

I have no clue, but I’m leaning towards male, due to the yellow color on the face.
