Heat problem with air supply.

I have a jehmco air pump that supplies air to all the sponge filters in the fish room. It is situated above the door near the ceiling.

The hose leaves the air pump to a "T" junction and goes around the room along the walls.

Problem is the hose and the junction seem real hot to me. One side of the "T" junction has actually blackened around where the "T" connects to the pipe.

ANy ideas??

My guess would be that the pump is to large for the system. Try adding a few valves to the loop and run them near wide open to bleed off some pressure. Adding a piece of airline that's a foot or so to the bleeder valves will help to reduce any whistling noise that you get from running air out of a naked valve.

The old method was to put a (tobacco) pipe cleaner in the valve to act as a muffler. With smoking out of favor now, they are harder to find but can often be found in hobby/craft stores.
