hello there!

just got my new apistos today from a local fish store.. they seem healthy and actually ate pellets (crushed) already.. they are about an inch long including their tails.. i have 5 of them, not knowing their genders yet.. i think they are too small to know yet.. i places them in a 5gallon tank for grow out and would transfer them to a semi planted 20gallon tank once the fish grew a little and the plants have settles (roots growing and everything..)

they are soft water fish right? i put in driftwood in the 20g tank, in their grow out, i used herbs widely available here in the Philippines that have a softening effect in the water. most fishkeepers use them here.. keeps the water ph at around 6...

i\ll try to post them as soon as i get a cam.. any advices? :)

Hello and Welcome,

Yes the male is a nice one.
Do you get many choices of apistos in the Philippines ? Or are they rare ?
I presume there are a lot of breeders ?
Give us some info.
Have fun with the Apistos, they are great fish to watch and observe
cheers jan-kurt

apistos here in the Philippines are still quite rare, especially the very colorful ones. most of them are still imports, but guys here are working on breeding these fish here. :) some are successful already. planning to get a new batch, maybe borelli's or another type. :)
