Rams and Platies get along?

I currently have a 55 gallon well-planted tank with three platies (+1 fry) four cories (soon adding a couple more) and a couple inverts (ghost shrimp and snails).

There are some gorgeous gold rams at my LFS and I wanted to get a couple. Will they do alright with my Platies? I figure since the Platies are mostly high swimmers and Rams tend to stay lower, they'd be alright.

Two rams do okay? Three? Four? What ratio M/F?

Also, I've read conflicting reports on desired pH for Rams, what do you guys recommend?

I don't see any problem keeping platies with rams

In a 55, with what you already have, I see you easily keeping 6 - 8 specimens. Don't worry about sex - unless you plan to breed them. It is very unlikely that you will be successful with a school of cory cats in the tank with them. Just enjoy their amusing behavior & beautiful colors.

Slightly acid (~pH 6.5) and moderately soft (< 10 dGH, <5 dKH) water is best, but temperature is more important. This is a savanna fish & needs higher temperatures, around 85ºF/30ºC.

How manny?

I am keeping RAMS with Discuses. How many would I be able to keep in a 550l
(145 gallons) tank?

It depends on the number of Discus you have in the aquarium. Both should be OK together, since they both have different territorial needs.

Discus and RAMs

7 discusses, they don't seam to intervere with the RAMs at all. Got 1 golden and a pair of bolivian rams currently.

Is this a 2 meter long tank? If it is, you should be able to keep 12 Rams easily.
