Any idea what is wrong with my Borellii's pectoral area?

I have had this female for it only a few days now.

(at least I'm certain she was a female, and so was my LFS)

Is it from trying to squeeze in a cave? Is the male harassing her bad? Is this a sneaker male and my dominant male is attacking?

I will continue to monitor and try and do a ~50% water change every day. Any other suggestions? I have a blackwater tank I can throw her in while it heals... perhaps the tannins will help?

Looks like a bacteria infection and she needs treatment - i would let other chime in but i've found kanaplex laced food (if she is eating) works well - basically mix the food with the powder in water and then see if she will eat it. There are different types of bacteria infection - gram - and gram + - i never understood the difference but one tend to move slow and you have a week or two to treat and the other fast - a couple of days at most .

In any event i'd let the disease expert chime in but i don't think it is an abrasion or due to physical damage.

Well, I woke up to a dead fish. If I got her from the shop on Saturday, do you think this is something she came home with?

For sure. All medical problems appearing within the first 14-21 days after purchase would be very likely brought with the fish. And it could also be an infected injury from when the fish was caught at the store.

I would keep an eye on the other fish in the tank right now.
