Behind the large java fern i have an area of the tank that is emersed - at one time i thought of putting frogs there but was paranoid they would muck with the fishes but i did manage to get this guy growing:

Some pictures of two aquariums during water change. The first is the one that started this thread which has 5 norberts (4 males and 1 female) and a few wavarni (i'd move them if they would jump into the net), cardinals emeral rasbora and otto. The nobert were purchased around 18 to 20 months ago as 3 pairs - one of the females was a male and 1 of the female died or vanished after approx a year (i would not be shocked if the one female left killed her as they never got along despite the aquarium size - i would feed them on opposite sides so they would not cross into each other territory (the aquarium is 24inch x 48 inch).

1 cardinal died a month ago and that's all i know of in terms of deaths over the past year.

The top is kind of naked - it used to have a lot of frogbit if you scroll back a ways but when i modified the current most of it died. and the vals are growing ok but not really as aggressively in some other aquariums - maybe lower light or current issue.

Usually there is a pile of cardinals and emerald eye rasbora but today they are kind of all avoiding me - they were in full force this morning during feeding time - i did manage to find one of the new otto i added (i added a few ottos last week - they came in quite young which is good):

i know i keep my tanks over populated but that's because i can never find any of the fishes....

This is one of the norberts - i believe it is the recessed but not undersized male - the dominant male swam off with the female to the back - so they mostly just come up front when i feed them. The dominant male looks distinctly different but hard to articulate unfortunately he rarely stays still long enough for a picture as i've tried a few time.

This is just a patch of sand up front - one complaint i frequently read on the forum (not here) is that sand is no good because it gets dirty. So eventually it will get dirty but haven't yet after 3 1/2 years.

The back is a bit different:

Not 100% sure why stuff collects back there - i'm certainly not doing anything manually to encourage it - that is against the back panel - there is a bunch of drift wood in front there making that are unreachable if i did want to tinker with it but i suspect it is more plus then minus... And the rest of the crud seem to end up on my plants:

Why i don't know but it doesn't seem to retard growth. If you go back to the start you can see how much that golden nana has grown - in tap water even after 5+ years they never seem to get very large but that one is going to make a nice home for the fishes in another 5 or 10 years.

The above pictures were taken around 9:40 (my time); but i just had to find some fishes so a bit later i spotted a few and took this picture:

(taken at 11:30) - hey it is better then no fishes at all....

Oh well maybe i need to add some more fishes ;)

---

This is a few from the 24x48 at the front of the room - hum i guess i kind of like those dimensions - decent size for an aquarium... the vals grow much better here:

The front has tucano, a bit and something else:

In the back we usually find the pygmy and more ruby and such. It seems the tucano, pygmy and n. marilyn have fixed locations where they can almost always be found as well as the group of bits but the ruby roam a lot and the morse code sort of drift over time from one area to another:

To explain what i mean by front and back when you walk into the room on the right next to a wall the 24 inch side face you and that is the front and extend 48 against the wall so the back is the other end not the area next to the wall. Oh well.... I should have gotten some pictures of the n. mairlyn but i didn't focus on them - they tend to hang out near the front but against the edge along the wall just behind where the vals get dense making them a little difficult to see.

Hello Martin, though I am not sure if I am adressing the right person, I still hope I am. I got 2 trios of Apistogramma psammophila from you some time ago. I was lucky to breed them, too, but, unfortunately, I got mainly males, 15, and only 2 females. That's why today, I have only three males left.
Kind regards, Michael (Hagen-Hohenlimburg)
He recalled that General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Tô Lâm had praised these achievements, noting that institutions are no longer the main bottleneck to development, with challenges now lying in implementation.
Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.
