Unknown Dwarf - Apisto maybe ?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this little fish of mine ?

She (i am guessing at sex) was sold to me as a female Laetacara curviceps or Flag Acara. My other curviceps (who i had presumed were all male hence the difference in shape) were not impressed with the new arrival so i guess she isnt.

She is really shy and it is hard to get a good photo. She is much brighter and vivid blue in real life. I would love to know what she is so i can find another. Not from my LFS this time, last time i listen to them.

Looks like a male apisto to me; regani-group, probably resticulosa-complex. How large is the fish? Does it ever show a oval spot on the flanks? I think I know what it is, but larger photos would be helpful in identifying it for certain.

Thanks Mike,

He is around 6cm but its hard to tell i hardly ever see more of him than a pair of eyes staring out of a hole in a coconut cave. I have never seen an oval spot on the flanks but there could be one! I will try and get a better pic.

I looked up Apisto regani on google and the resulting photos looked close to my fish in shape and colour but the patterns were not quite right.

I will return with more evidence !
