Hi,

Can I know what the difference between trifasciata"Guapore" and a normal trifasciata? They look the same to me. Thanks!

jm_sth,

WELCOME TO THE FORUM

Well, There are numerous forms of trifasciata. The standard trifasciata can be a very bland fish with vitually no dorsal extensions, depending on the water in which it is kept. Soft water equals more color, more finnage! The "Guapore" form is almost always colored well (as an adult). Plus one standard characteristic is the red on the dorsal fin points. Females of this form are even a blue color and can get dorsal extensions, making them tough to sex at all but a full grown size. Hope that helps a little.

Thanks Neil, can the "Guapore" form cross breed with other trifasciatas or even can the different form of trifasciatas cross breed?

jm_sth,
Basically the "Guapore" form is just a color variant of trifasciata, which means that they (different trifasciata color forms) are probably compatable as far as possible mates. I say probably, because there is sometimes resistance to breeding compatability between different forms within a species. But trifasciata should be OK. Although a nice color form, "Guapore" is just another trifasciata.
