Thoracochromis brauschi is endemic to the River Fwa in central Democratic Republic of Congo. Males grow to about 5" in aquaria and females somewhat smaller. T. brauschi is a haplochromine cichlid and spawns in typical haplochromine fashion: it is a maternal ovophilic mouthbrooder.
In the wild this species eats Vallisneria, so a heavy vegetable diet should be offered. Water parameters don't seem to be important.
