Just wanted to know what everyone was leaning towards for their substrate? I'm going to buy another tank soon, and want to have plants for some dwarfs, but not sure wether to go with sand or a specific plant based base like flourite etc.? Also...they like the plants, but they also like cover, so what plants do people generaly strive for? Thanks.

I'd say sand is the best for them to sift through and dig in. In my latest tank I'm using Amazonia Aquasoil at the rear of the tank with sand at the front. The plant growth using Aquasoil is amazing! I'll be using that and sand areas in all my planted tanks from now on I think.

Morning,

I also use sand and JBL Aquabasis for the plants in the pots or back of aquarium. Sand I get from the local pool shop, they have cheap and very fine sand they use for filters. It is neutral.
