Okay, I'm new to cichlids so please excuse my lack of knowledge!
I am setting up a 55 gallon and would like cichlids as either my centerpieces or if need be, my only fish. In terms of what I find appealing, I'm really liking two different kinds. So I'm hoping some of you that are WAY more experienced than I am could give me some advice. In advance, I'd like to apologize for the length of my post and give thanks to anyone who takes the time to help me out!
Q1 - Would it be possible to peacefully have a pair (or trio?) of Agassizii and a pair (or trio?) of cacatuoides together in the 55 gallon?
Q2 - If those types of fish can be together, what would be the best ratio in terms of their happiness and my tank size?
Q3 - If the above scenario is possible, what kind of cleanup crew would be recommended and would work with my tank size?
Q4 - I've read slightly about using certain fish as 'dithers' - what are they and would i need them?
Q5 - If the above scenario would not be a basically peaceful setup - could you give me a good stock list to do a 'harem' of cacatuoides for a 55 gallon?
So for now, that's all I've got but again thank you SOOOO much for any and all help you can offer!
Tiffany
