Rainbow eggs from Ted

I know what the name of this forum is and what it centers about. I just don't know any other source as knowledgeable as this group. Please bear with me.

I got some rainbow fish eggs from Ted (Chiliatherina Fasciata, Glossolepis Dorityi and two Melanotaenia) and they seem to be hatching. I use Tetras fine baby food powder. I was wondering if I can also use green water to feed these fry.....and for how long? I keep a lot and use a lot of green water for other small fry....but just in case there is something I am unaware of regarding these.

If anyone can throw a bone....thanks

Sure, green water is great for rainbows. I wish that I could keep mine from crashing whenever I really need it .

thanks for your help. i know what you mean. i keep a 29gal w/green water. once a week i collect dead plants from all my other tanks and feed them to this tank. i also make a 20% water change every two weeks. try this it has worked for me for years.

Green water is excellent. You can also use the 'beam of light' strategy if you have green water. Cover three sides and the top of the tank with dark paper, make a hole about 1/8 in diameter in the paper over the top and put a flashlight over the hole pointing through the hole. A beam of light will appear in the water. Infusoria will attract to the light, and so will the fry. You can feed less green water that way.
