problem with fries surviving

hi all..

i would like to seek advice on why the fries unable to survive after a week of free swimming.. the parents took care of the fries and fed them with dried pellets(female crushed the pellet into powder form and food drop out from the gills) but none of the fries survive..
there no other fishes except the pair and 1 otto fish..

The fry will not take dried foods when they are very young. You will have to get some small live foods such as freshly hatched brine shrimp or microworms for the first couple of weeks.
I usually feed that for two weeks, then add some finely crushed flake and feed that together with the live food. After another couple of weeks on that mix they are usually ok on just crushed flake, but I always add some live food in as well. They definitely grow faster on live food.

I've had fry survive exclusively on dry foods in the 'olden days', but definitely not as well or as many as when using live foods. I think your (and my) problem, when using dry food exclusively, has/had more to do with water quality. Fine, uneaten, dry foods tend to foul the water much, much faster than live foods. I find it is much harder to feed dry foods in the right quantity than live foods. Like regani, I've switched to live foods exclusively for fry. They grow faster and I lose fewer.
