Possible tank mates for a single agassizii?

Been thinking about slowly shaping my 55 gallon (208L) community tank into something SA focused, and I’d like to add another species of dwarf cichlid. I was worried about adding the first, a single male A. agassizii but he worked out great. He has claimed one of the driftwood “caves” on the far left of the tank but mingles fine with the other fish. Occasionally he chases a cory off but is not overly concerned with them or his specific territory that I have been able to observe.

Current stocking is the one apisto, 6 paleatus corys, around 12 emerald eye rasboras, 6 ember tetras, several leopard danios, and about 9 white cloud mountain minnows (actually split between T. albonubes and T. micagemmae). The tank is unheated and runs about 73F/22.8C in summer and gets down to as low as 68-69F/20-20.5C in winter. I plan to gradually add ember tetras, maintain the stocking of emerald eyes, and let the danio and minnow population reduce naturally over time.

What would be some good compatible SA dwarf cichlids to take a look at? My current research includes keyhole cichlids and L. curviceps. Seriouslyfish lists both at a temp range I would be comfortable trying in this tank. Would a second single male of a different species than A. agassizii work well in this hardscape and footprint (48”x13”/122cm x 33cm)?View attachment 18263

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
