Parasite or just a deformity?

Hello all,
I just came home from the fish shop with this "pair" of Apistogramma Sp. Ladisloa WC. But i noticed the female (Smaller one) has this petrusion on her right gill cover. I panicked and thought it was a parasite of some kind, but it does not move and it seems to be connected to the gill cover. Any expert out there that could determine what it is? And if its safe to put with other fish?

I may be wrong but it looks like the post (posterior) operculum is missing on one side of the fish. This isn't uncommon to see on domestic raised fry in less than optimum water conditions. Whether or not it is safe to add to other fish? That is your option. Me? I never put new fish with old until I quarantine them for at least 6 weeks.

Ofc, I have them in quarantine atm. Just doesn’t seem to clear up. The fish doesn’t seem to mind it at all. Thanks for the reply!
