Hi, I have a pair of kribs that won't breed in my forty gallon community tank with pH of 6.6, so I was wondering if a 10 gallon breeding tank is big enough for them. Of course it wouldn't be for long term, for them to breed. Also could you guys give me a couple pointers on breeding them?

I'm not sure how experienced you are with West African dwarfs, but In my opinion a 10 gallon is going to be too small. I'm sure there are some scenarios where you could get away with it. I would be more curious as to why they won't breed in your 40 gallon? Is it because of the other fish in the tank? Are there plenty of caves, hiding spots, structure, etc?

I have probably like six half coconut shells for caves, and I have 3 small angel fish that are growing out so I could move those, but other than that I have rummy nose tetras and bushy nose pleco with some kuhlis and 3 cories.

Common aquarium strain kribs should not be too fussy. If the water is good and clean and the fish are well fed, they will spawn if there is a suitable place to do so. Whether the eggs hatch or the fry become free-swimming is another story. I doubt any of the other fish in your tank are preventing your kribs from spawning, but the pleco, kuhlis and cories will eat the eggs if they can get to them and all of them are opportunistic fry eaters. I'm sure you've heard the saying, community tanks do not make good breeding tanks. Despite all this, I still think they could raise a few fry in there. Otherwise a 20 gallon long would make a nice breeding tank. I hope this helps. Good luck.
