Opposite end cacatuoides

Hi all,
I have a pair of cacatuoides in a 72 g planted. It seems the female likes the far right end, with the clay pot, and the male likes the far left end, with the driftwood. They haven't spawned yet, and it seems the male is always trying to lure the female to his favorite spot and the female is always trying to lure the male to her favorite end of the tank. But they always end up at their opposite ends.

Comments? Suggestions?
Thanks,
vancat

I'ld say that is a pretty good suggestion. You may not need to do anything. I think you may be suprised that when both are ready, they will figure out how to get together.

Thanks!
I've been enjoying the displays and watching their interaction for a few months now. Love these fish. And I'd say that the female is almost as pretty as the male!

new clay pot, new behavior

New development:
I put a new clay pot over in the male's favorite territory, one with a hole that only the female can fit through. She keeps going in & out & is definitely guarding it! The reason I made the hole smaller on this one is that I had seen a yoyo loach go in the other one & I don't think the female apisto liked that. She seems to love the new one with the small hole...but....

My question is this: can the eggs be fertilized if the male can't fit in there?
thanks!

Yes they can, he knows what to do, he will just fan it through the opening.

Are you very fond of those yo-yo's? I can't see much fry surviving with them around. I had some and had to get rid of them, for that reason.

YOYOS

omigod, i've been trying to catch them for months now. My tank is heavily planted. I've tried all kinds of traps & pvc, baited with snails even. I know I can get them if I drain down the tank but I didn't want to do that (that's the only way I could catch an SAE).

I'd LOVE to get them out of there.

Hard to catch, I know, but you have to get them out of there if you want fry. Use a large net and use 2 nets. I know what you mean about catching fish in a planted tank. I have 5 heavily planted tanks, it's a bummer, but it can be done.
