Hey everybody,

My name is Haakon, I'm 27, live in Norway and work in at a LFS. I've been keeping and breeding Cichlids, mainly Dwarves, since 1990. I think this is a great forum and I figured I'd better be a part of it the sooner the better:) Looking forward to partcipate!

Thank you guys! BlueBlue; at the moment I only have a community tank, because that's all I got time to take care of :) However I work at a Local Fish Store, so I get to be around my favourite fishes as much as I like! In my community tank, which is 250 liters, I have Nannacara taenia and Dicrossus filamentosus.

N.taenia is a very beautiful and easy to breed Dwarf-Cichlid, but it seems there are very few photos around showing the true beauty of the males, perhaps this is partially the reason why they are not more popular? In breeding mood the males almost show the same colours as the Honey-Gouramy (Colisa sota / Colisa chuna), they have the same pitch-black throat area and the pale orange body with rust-red stripes. I was really surprised the first time I saw this in my specimens, because I had never seen it before!

i see; Well, whether we like a fish or not is really subjective. For me, i like apistos more than any other kind of dwarf cichlids and so i have never faithfully kept N.taenia. By the way, N.taenia is a popular fish in Hong Kong and has been in the hobby for years ^.^
