They seem to be A106 the commonly available form of the species in the hobby. They do show a little more yellow on the body than some other populations. There is a population called A. sp. Rotpunkt (Puerto Nariño) that shows even more yellow on the body. A107 is the paratype population/form of A. alacrina. I doubt that discusone's fish are A107 because the area is not often commercially collected. I would need to see better photos of the females to be certain, however.

Mike and jose,

thanks for the info.Mike,no they are not local Den fish.Apparently, apistos in Den are far and few.I recieved them via theamazonbasement, thru aquabid.com.

As a novice apisto fan,can you give me a brief explanation on the 106,107,108 thing? Is this refering to local populations?,Or more based on color morphs?Geograpical Area?.

Anyhow, whatever they are,i am enjoing them, tons of attitude in a small package. And i enjoy the fact that i dont have to mix up 50 gallons of saltwater for a water change!
