They look like bitaniata to me. The fish you have are small and they will look like the pics when they get older.

subiechick,

WELCOME TO THE FORUM

Really pretty hard to tell from your pics. Try focusing on an immobile object near where the fish is (same distance) and then snap the shot. If you have a macro capability on your camera, it will help considerable. Many times it is just a waiting game to get the fish to stay still in the area that you want him/her.

Another photo trick I have recently figured out is to focus from farther away with a large pixel width, and use a remote flash to offset the angle of the flass. If you focus from farther out on a high resolution, you can blow the picture up to get the detail. The focal length is longer from farther out, so more of the objects in the tank are in focus.

Okay, I loaded those pics into photoshop and used the spotlight feature to really illuminate the fish and then the sharpen to clear up the res and its as clear as needs to be!
Especially that female! The lateral line stops and has a clear break before the tail and ends in a tail spot. The males look a bit like an agazizzi and a bit like a young bitaeniata.Round tail with faint spots, solid lateral line extending into the tail unlike the female. They are fish from the pertensis group, I have guessed mine are iniridae.
My reverse trio looks exactly like yours so if I am wrong and the stop point on the lateral line of the female means something then any identification for Subiechick identifies mine!
My trio are growing and now show a red edge to their top fin and some orange and blue clours in the lower half and bottom fins...

I guess I can just wait and see what they turn out to be.
I have a second question though... how long does it take Apisto.'s to reach maturity?
When I got this group they had already been there since 11/28/02! I've seen one of the males is starting to color up just a tiny bit on his fins but other than that, everyone else is still pretty grayish. And so far I've only seen one female (eek) with the blackening on her top fin.
